All current members and applied members** are invited to apply for financial assistance to help you grow and learn!

Each year, SNACT sets aside almost $2,000 in funds. These funds are intended to help school food service employees attend training. Examples of training include attendance at national conferences, state conferences, college courses, continuing education courses, adult education classes, GED classes …or other available opportunities to help you do your job better.

If you would like to apply for some of these funds, please complete the application. Submit the application by April 10, 2008. Winners will be notified no later than May 4, 2008. Funds will be paid after you have successfully completed the training.

You must submit 2 pieces – the application and a brief description of how this training might help you in your job. For examples of brief descriptions, please see below.

PLEASE APPLY!!!!!   Click here to print the application.

** Applied members are also welcome!!! Applied members are those who can prove that they have submitted a membership application to the national SCHOOL NUTRITION ASSOCIATION (SNA) no later than April 1, 2008. (If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member of SNACT, contact SNACT Membership Chairperson Madeleine C. Diker Phone: 1-203-250-2459 or mdiker@cheshire.k12.ct.us

Below are 2 examples of brief statements that tell why this training experience would help someone professionally:

1) This is my first time attending a summer conference of SNACT. Some of my co-workers go every year, but I could not attend because of the need to care for my children. I would like to attend this year because I have a chance to learn about the new regulations for sanitation.  If I can have some help with the cost of the registration, I will be able to pay for a babysitter for my children.

2) If I could get some financial help with this adult education course in computers, it would allow me to set up an inventory system on my computer at school. Knowing how to use the computer would also help me know how to get on the Child Nutrition website where all of their information is now stored. I could also use the computer to write better-looking menus, and parents could email their questions to me about the meals program.
