What is 5-3-1? 5-3-1 for Healthy Kids is a
Connecticut statewide initiativedeveloped by a coalition
of organizations and agencies whose primary purpose is to
promote wellness. The purpose of 5-3-1 for Healthy Kids
is to help Connecticut residents take the first stepin
putting the 2005 Dietary Guidelines and the United States
Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) My Pyramid into ACTION!

5-3-1 In the News: Hartford Courant,
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 - Celebrity Chef, Jon Ashton
visits Timothy Edwards Middle School in South Windsor to promote
the 5-3-1 message. During his 30 minute presentation at the
school, Chef Ashton taught the kids healthier recipes the foods
they love and stressed the importance of daily exercise.
